New event series for WonkComms Leaders

We’re back! After a long time adjusting to the new reality of 2020 working life, WonkComms is slowly but surely gearing up for a series of events and discussions, in partnership with Soapbox who have been an integral part of WonkComms events for several years now. The first part of this is the launch of a new series aimed at heads and directors of comms, the WonkComms Leaders series.

Why WonkComms Leaders? Well, 2020 has thrown up many new challenges for everyone involved in comms, whether it’s getting to grips with numerous video meetings, managing a press office remotely, or supporting policy colleagues with the extraordinarily fast-moving policy environment.

For those of us responsible for managing communications teams, this year has had some other unique challenges: motivating and supporting teams remotely, whilst providing strategic advice and oversight to our organisations grappling with some of the biggest changes to working life in a generation. And, until now, doing this without access to peer support and discussion.

Our WonkComms Leaders series will fill that gap, offering senior comms leaders the chance to share experiences and discuss challenges in a small, focused roundtable (online of course!) held under the Chatham House Rule. Places are limited so if it sounds of interest to you, then get in touch with us today. Our first event will take place on Thursday 5th November at 9am, and we will hear from Keith Burnett of Chatham House (and me).

**Update: 27 October*** This event is now fully booked. We will be publishing a blog reflecting on the key themes discussed. Keep an eye on this website and our Twitter feed for more events.

And what about comms professionals who are not leading or managing comms teams? Don’t worry, we are cooking up something for you too, building on our Route to the Top series we kicked off before Covid-19 changed everything for everyone. Watch this space.
