We’re very pleased to announce the first in a new series of small London-based events for the policy communications community.
WonkComms have teamed up with Soapbox to offer the UK WonkComms community a regular opportunity to get together and discuss some of the big challenges of delivering communications in think tanks and research organisations.
Each Breakfast Club session covers a different topic and focuses on the practicalities of communications – whether you’re trying to improve email marketing or do better at engaging with Parliament.
This isn’t about listening, it is about participating. It’s an opportunity to meet people like you, learn from what they are doing and share what you’re doing.
To keep discussion focused, each event will be small, with 20 participants max. We’ll offer some tea, coffee and croissants and let you listen to one speaker from the WonkComms community introduce the topic and hear some thoughts from our Soapbox partners based on their experience of working with numerous different think tanks and research organisations.
Join us for the first session, ‘Targeting Parliament’ at 9am on 5 May 2016 at the Soapbox studio in central London. We’ll hear from Nicole Valentinuzzi, Media Manager at the Institute for Government, on how to ‘influence the influencers’ – targeting MPs and peers given the changing party political makeup of both Houses, with particular reference to APPGs and select committees. We’ll then open up the conversation for the remainder of the event.
Tickets are limited so we ask for one person per organisation, and we ask that you come ready to share the good things you’ve done – and when things haven’t quite worked. Everything will be run under the Chatham House rule so you can feel free to share.
WonkComms: it’s not about being the best, it’s about being better.
