EVENT: WonkComms in the North: what’s the future of think tank communications?

Mon 14 October, 11:00-13:00

Joseph Rowntree Foundation (Head Office), The Homestead, 40 Water End, York, YO30 6W

Not all think tanks are based in London but lots of evidence based organisations are trying to be more like think tanks. In an age of ‘information overload’, for great ideas and top class analysis to break into the closed circle of the Westminster village, think tanks outside of London need to work even smarter. All over the world, communications teams in think tanks and research organisations are innovating and evolving to become ‘digital by default’. New and social media mean the barriers are coming down but are the wonks of the north ready to ‘go digital’? Join us for a discussion with leading think tanks about the cutting edge of communications and how its never been easier to ‘go global’.

This is part of a series of events, following events in London and Peru, with more to come in Brussels, Johannesburg and Washington DC.

Richard Darlington, Head of News, IPPR

Leonora Merry, Head of Media and External Affairs, SMF

Nick Scott, Digital Manager, ODI

Richard Caulfield, Chief Executive, VSNW

Chair: Abigail Scott Paul, Head of Engagement, JRF
